Employee injured when struck by tree root

Employee #1, working as a knot bumper for a logging company, was cutting limbs and knots off logs with a chain saw as they were brought into the log landing. As he was standing in the log landing area, the tire of a front end loader ran over the end of the root wad. The employee was struck in the ankle by the root wad and was hospitalized with a fractured ankle.
