Investigation Summary
Employee #1, a mill worker, was operating a bevel machine. This machine has two saws that cut bevels on lumber. He was cutting bevels on 4 ft long 2 by 2's when one of the pieces jammed the machine. He shut the bevel machine off and raised the guard over the saws. He grabbed the stuck piece and pulled to free it and his hand slipped off the stuck piece and made contact with a saw that had not stopped turning. Employee #1's ring finger was amputated and he was hospitalized.
