Investigation Summary
Early in the day on August 4, 1999, Employee #1, a mechanic for a medium-sized wood products manufacturer, noticed that his left elbow was inflamed and swollen. He was sent to St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where the elbow was lanced and drained the following day. Employee #1 was hospitalized for two days and treated with antibiotics. Employee #1 spent 80 percent of his work time in the mechanic's shop and the rest at various places throughout the plant. While the date and place where the injury occurred could not be established, the injury was treated as work-related.
