Employee Injured In Fall

Employee #1 works as a 10-ft sawyer in a company that produces veneer. Employee #1 was on the in-feed deck cleaning debris off the paint marks for log lengths. Employee #1 decided to step across an open space between the log deck and the operator's workstation. Employee #1 grabbed a chain that was being used as a railing on the operator's workstation intending to use the chain to pull him over to the deck on the operator's station side. As Employee #1 pulled on the chain, it broke causing him to fall 11 ft to the ground. Employee #1 fractured his right arm. Employee #1 was hospitalized for his injuries.
