Event: 05/09/1997
Employee's wrist broken in fall with ladder

Employee #1, a painter for the building maintenance department of a state university, was engaged in the remodeling of a building into a print shop. He was on an 8 ft stepladder, troweling an area of wall over an air duct. Apparently, Employee #1 was leaning over the air duct when the ladder came out from under him. He tried to hold onto the duct, but could not . He fell to the floor and fractured his left wrist, which required pinning and surgery. Employee #1 later stated he did not remember what happened; the account was given by a witness.
