Employee injured when struck by motor grader

Employee #1 worked for a contractor engaged in grading work at a development of single-family homes. He was clearing rocks from the graded area when he noticed a flat tire on a tractor. Employee #1 was walking across the field to get an air compressor when he dropped a set of keys. He was picking them up when the motor grader blade changed direction and struck him. Employee #1 was taken to John Muir Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for treatment of a fractured jaw, a fractured shoulder, and fractured ribs.
