Employee injured when struck by falling tree limb

Employee #1 was supervising a crew that was trimming a tree next to a highway construction site. One of the crew members was using a pole saw when the blade became pinched in a branch. He asked Employee #1 to help him free the saw. Employee #1 grabbed the pole and was pulling on it when the branch suddenly broke off. It fell and struck Employee #1, who suffered a fractured left leg, along with back and abdominal injuries. Employee #1 and his crew had proper training and were following safety procedures.
