Event: 12/08/1997
EMPLOYEE'S LEG FRACTURED WHEN CAUGHT IN MACHINERY

On December 8, 1997, Employee #1 working at a paper box manufacturing plant in San Lorenzo, Ca, was assigned to remove finished product from a production line. Employee #1 noticed that a pallet had a wrong identifying label. She was placing the correct identification label in place, when she inadvertently activated the pallet sensing device on the line. The pallet auto-pushing device began operation and struck Employee #1, knocking her down. Employee #1's leg was caught in the front recess of the auto-pusher, and struck by the trailing edge of the device. This resulted in a compound fracture of Employee #1's right tibia and fibula.
