Employee's Thumb Crushed by Auger

Employee #1 was working at a winery in a vault that was approximately six feet below an adjacent paved area. He was removing a suspended grape stem auger from its housing when it became jammed. In releasing the sheet metal, the loosed auger crushed his thumb against the sheet metal. Employee #1 sustained lacerations to his thumb.
