Employee injured when trench caves in

Employee #1 was connecting french drains at the bottom of a 12 ft deep trench when an excavator with a bucket caused the sides to cave in. He suffered minor bruises and sprains, but was not hospitalized. Employee #1 entered the trench knowing there was no cave-in protection.
