Workers foot run over by forklift

On September 18, 2000, Employees working at Dempel Farming were unloading empty grape bins from a flat bed trailer located at the loading area adjacent to the barn. The elevated valley bin had a designed capacity of 2.5 tons. The forklift was a Lift all model M with a capacity of 8000 lbs. (Serial Number 794149) Employee #1 was an experienced, long-time employee at the vineyard. Employee number #1 was on the ground guiding the forklift operator stationed in front of the vehicle on the right side. Employee #1 was injured when the right front wheel of the forklift ran over his left foot and leg, fracturing two metatarsals in the instep. There were no witnesses to the accident.
