Employee slipped and fractured knee in same-level fall

At approximately 6:51 a.m. on February 21, 1996, Employee #1 was working for the Western Air and Refrigeration Company, a heating and air conditioning contractor that installed air handling units and related ductwork. He had been recalled from lay-off status and was not familiar with the location where the crew was working. As Employee #1 was walking through the level grade of the basement of the building under construction, he slipped in water that had accumulated on the floor from fallen rain. Employee #1 sustained a fractured left knee that required surgery.
