Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202313573
Event: 04/17/2003
Employee sustain injuries to fingers while cutting wood

On April 17, 2003, Employee #1 was working for Flores Construction, cutting blocks of wood. The employee was instructed by the foreman to use a Rigid two wheel table saw, Serial Number 03043PO409, and a push stick to cut the wood. After completing about 95 blocks, the employee accidentally moved his hand into the saw blade area. The employee's left ring, middle and pinky fingers were injured. Employee #1 was hospitalized and underwent surgery to repair his damaged fingers. The guard for the table saw could not be used due to the angle of the cuts being made to the wood. The angle would have prevented the guard from coming down to cover the blade.
