Employee Amputates Fingers While Using Hedge Trimmer

On February 12, 2008, Employee #1, a tree cutter, was trimming a bush with an Echo hedge trimmer, Model Number HC-201 and Serial Number 06001874. Employee #1 lost control of the hedge trimmer and tried to catch the handle. Instead, he came in contact with the blades, resulting in the amputation of his finger tip, middle and ring fingers. The middle and ring finger were reattached but the tip of his left index finger tip was gone. Employee #1 had tendon surgery on the reattached fingers. He was hospitalized for treatment.
