Employee Fractures Arm While Caught in Conveyer Belt

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on January 31, 2009, Employee #1, an assistant wine maker at a winery, was cleaning a portable grape conveyor belt, while standing on a fiberglass ladder at an elevation of approximately 4 feet. The guards had been removed and the belt was moving. Employee #1 placed his hand and arm into the unguarded moving conveyor belt, driven by a 208 volt electric motor, causing fractures to his left arm.
