Employee Amputates Finger While Using Auger

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on September 28, 2006, an employee was cleaning a wine press auger, NMI Enterprises, 12-in. stainless steel, manufactured 1997. The employee stuck his left middle finger up into a discharge chute, without turning the machine off, and amputated his fingertip. The employee was hospitalized and treated for finger amputation.
