Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201020864
Event: 06/01/2006
Employee's Fingers Are Amputated in Food Equipment

At approximately 11:50 a.m. on June 1, 2006, Employee #1 was in a poultry processing facility, transferring skinned chicken necks from a tub into boxes as they came out of a continuous-feed neck skinning machine. When the necks began to pile up on the feed end of the skinner, he tried to remedy the backup by pulling the pile with his right hand towards the discharge end. As Employee #1 put his hand inside the machine, three fingers became caught between the rollers and amputated.
