Employee's fingers amputated when caught in drive

Employee #1 had worked for five years for a company engaged in paint staining and automatic painting of siding. On the day of the accident, he was adjusting a slide gate on the Paint-O-Matic machine for the size of the material being run. He was standing on the opposite side of the machine from the gate when he reached in. His fingers became caught in the unguarded chain and sprocket drive, and were amputated.
