Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170381339
Event: 08/13/1998
Employee sprains wrist in fall from scaffold

At approximately 9:40 a.m. on August 13, 1998, Employee #1, a carpenter, was on a rolling scaffold, hammering nails into a ceiling board. A beam that crossed the room prevented a second tier from being added to the scaffold so it would be high enough to work on the 15 ft high ceiling. As a result, Employee #1 was using an 8 ft wooden stepladder on the scaffold. A coworker was holding the ladder but, as Employee #1 was finishing, he left to get some materials. As Employee #1 descended the stepladder, he lost his footing and fell approximately 8 ft to the floor. He suffered a sprained left wrist.
