Employee Is Injured by Falling Tree Limb

At 2:50 p.m. on January 2, 2008, Employee #1 of the Department of Public Works in Ukiah, CA worked on a tree-trimming crew on a city street, where tree branches were felled from above a "clear zone." Employees were instructed not to enter this clear zone when the saw was running and unless verbally cleared to do so. Employee #1 entered the clear zone when saw was running and told "heads up," but was struck by a tree branch. He sustained facial fractures and was hospitalized. The accident was reported at 8:35 a.m. on January 3, 2008.
