ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH ENERGIZED PARTS

A power line contractor was replacing old poles along an overhead power line. A power line worker on one of the crews was on a utility pole, installing a cutout switch. He contacted an energized part on the switch and suffered an electric shock and burns. The injured employee was rescued from the pole, treated on the site, and then transported to a local hospital. He was later transferred to a burn center, where he was hospitalized for his injuries.
