Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 171046022
Event: 10/20/1995
Employee injured when struck by falling logs

On October 6, 1995, Employee #1, a log loader operator of R & C Logging at a private timber sale near Meachan, OR, had just completed a load of logs. He got off the loader and was on the passenger side positioning the load wrappers when four logs rolled off the load. At least three of the logs hit Employee #1 before he was able to get under the loaded trailer. He was hospitalized. Preliminary investigation revealed that the front wrapper was tightened before the other three wrappers were secured by binders. The tightening action apparently caused at least one log to move and four logs to fall off the load.
