Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on July 11, 2017, Employee #1 was climbing a power line pole to drill a hole for fiber optic cable hardware install. He attempted to drill a 9-inch hole across a pole that had a 12.5KV power riser on its side. The drill bit contacted the high electrical power line causing him to receive an electrical shock and burns over 50% of his body. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center, where he underwent burn treatment and was then hospitalized.
