Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was operating a Rockwell 2 HP shaper, using his right hand to guide the stock and his left hand to apply pressure. A push stick or other device was not required because of the size of the stock. As Employee #1 pushed the stock, the stock bound on the blades, causing his left hand to be drawn into the blades of the shaper. Coworkers transported him to a medical facility for treatment. It was thought that the finger would require amputation, but it was reattached.
