Investigation Summary
At 12:30 p.m. on June 15, 2017, an employee was using a broom and shove to clean rice from the bottom of a rice storage bin. As the employee was picking up the remaining rice kernels, he turned on the auger to assist with their removal. The rotating auger caught a hold of the employee's pants and tore them off. The employee sustained a laceration on his left leg, which he was hospitalized for 12 days.
