Employee sustains burns when working on distillery batch

At 11:16 a.m. on July 5, 2017, an employee was distilling a batch of single malt and brewing a beer while working in the distillery and brewery areas of the store. The employee was operating a 1,000-liter still with the still hatch door closed and heated steam supplied from a boiler in the boiler room. Fluids were leaking from the edge of the hatch and the employee was trying to tighten a replacement clamp on the still's door. The employee suffered second and third degree burns on his right hand, neck, chest, abdomen and back when he was drenched by the escaping heated gases and fluids. The employee was hospitalized.
