Employee crushed and killed by falling dead tree

On September 14, 1994, Employee #1, of Gerald McCormick Sawmill, was clearing dead pulpwood from an area approximately 300 yards from the main logging crew. It appears that while he was walking under a dead, rotten birch tree, it fell on him and crushed his lower back. He was found dead at the site with the tree on top of him. The employer received a serious citation.
