Investigation Summary
On June 22, 2017, an employee was operating an AC Transit-owned Van Pool Bus Number 2151 on the Route 97 traveling from the Bay Fair to the Union City BART station. The employee went into the break room to cool down and did not feel as if he was doing so. The employee notified the dispatcher of his condition and that he felt unable to report back for duty. The company dispatcher contacted emergency services and they transported the employee to Fremont Kaiser Hospital Emergency Room where he was treated for near vagal syncope, unable to metabolize water that the employee was drinking. Hospitalization was not required.
