ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU BOOM

An employee was moving an Ingersoll Rand rock driller (Model No. 45) with its mast in the upright position. The mast contacted a 69-kilovolt overhead power line. The rock driller caught fire, and the employee jumped from the cab of the driller. He was electrocuted, apparently as he landed on the ground. A second employee was moving a pickup truck. As he got out of the truck, he saw the first employee jump from the driller. The second employee sustained eye flash from looking at the accident.
