Employee's legs fractured when load of sheet metal falls

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on March 22, 1999, Employee #1 was helping a crane operator move a pallet of14 gauge, 5 ft long by 7 ft wide sheet metal screens. The operator was using a single 4 in. wide nylon web sling around the pallet, balancing it with his hand as he raised and moved the load. Employee #1 was clearing an area for the operator to place the load when it became unbalanced and fell on her. She sustained fractures in both legs and was transported to Emanual Hospital, where she underwent two surgeries to treat her injuries.
