Employee's thumb amputated by 20 in. saw blade

Employee #1 was operating a 20 inch automatic feed metal cutting saw. He was using an air nozzle to blow off aluminum chips. Employee #1 put his hand too far back into the machine and contacted the 20 inch carbide toothed blade, which turns at 3,100 rpm. Employee #1's thumb tip was amputated and his index finger was lacerated.
