Investigation Summary
A tree trimmer was trimming a tree as part of a line-clearance tree-trimming operation. He had started at ground level and had worked his way up to the level of a 35-kilovolt overhead power line that was about 1.8 meters from the tree. As he was cutting a 2- to 2.1-meter-long branch from the tree, a gust of wind apparently brought the branch into contact with the power line. The branch was also touching the employee's right shoulder, and he was in contact with the tree through either his right knee or his left thumb. The tree trimmer was electrocuted.
