Investigation Summary
At 8:55 a.m. on May 3, 2017, a laborer was dismantling pallets with a horizontal band saw. The employee was removing the pallet deck boards from the stringers by cutting through the nails with the band saw. The employee was pulling a pallet through the band saw when the pallet suddenly broke and the employee's hand was pulled into the blade. The employee sustained an amputation of the right index finger.
