Investigation Summary
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on April 27, 2017, an employee, a mechanic, was working underneath a school bus trying to diagnose an air leak problem. The bus was running while the mechanic was trying to solve the mechanical issue. The employee asked a coworker to climb up in the bus and to release the parking brake by pressing the PP1 valve. The coworker pressed the PP1 valve without realizing the bus was in gear. Suddenly, the bus started moving forward and ran over Employee#1. The bus started moving and ran over him at a slow speed. The employee suffered serious multiple crushing injuries to his body for which he was hospitalized.
