Investigation Summary

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 12, 1994, Employee #1, a laborer for a masonry company, was on his first day laying brick at a construction site. He had only worked for about three hours when he became ill on the job and an ambulance was summoned. Employee #1 was taken to a hospital where he died several hours later. On July 15, 1994, the coroner's office stated the probable cause of death was heat stress. A subsequent and more detailed report on July 22, 1995, from the coroner's office indicated the cause of death as HCVD (hypertensive cardiovascular disease).
