Investigation Summary
At 10:50 a.m. on February 1, 2017, Employee #1 and Coworker #1, employed by an electrical services company, were working at the rear of a retail shopping center. They were climbing a fixed ladder to access the building attic in preparation for repairing a lighting system. Employee #1, who was carrying an impact drill under his arm, had reached the ladder's upper rung when he fell. He fell approximately 7 to 8 feet onto Coworker #1 at the bottom of the ladder, and then fell an additional 3 feet to the concrete surface. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital. Employee #1 was admitted and treated for fractures to his wrist and three ribs, a head laceration, and a concussion.
