Investigation Summary
An employer had positioned a truck crane on the pavement alongside an amusement ride. Several employees were using the crane to set up the ride. They set a medallion on top of the ride and attached it. The crane operator apparently swung the crane boom to right to relieve pressure on left-side pins. The boom contacted an overhead power line. An employee who had his arm around the outrigger was electrocuted. Another employee tried to pull him off and was also electrocuted when he was unable to free his grip. A third employee touched the two injured employees, received an electric shock, and was also unable to free his grip. A fourth employee was able to knock the third employee free. The crane operator then moved the crane boom away from the power line. The third employee was hospitalized for his injuries.
