Maintenance employee dies when hit by tractor trailer

On November 24, 2000, a maintenance employee was performing work on a Dok-Lok system at a loading dock. A truck driver backed a tractor trailer into the wrong dock and struck the employee who did not see the approaching truck. Barriers or equivalent protection to block traffic from work areas were not in use. The employee was hospitalized with multiple injuries and died several days later.
