Employee falls down elevator shaft and sustains multiple fra

At 8:15 a.m. on February 1, 2017, Employee #1, employed by a construction company, was engaged in interior carpentry at a multiemployer construction project. The employee was working on a three-story multifamily residential building. He opened an elevator door, stepped into the elevator shaft, and fell to the bottom of the shaft, a fall height of approximately 16 feet. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital. He was admitted and treated for fractures of the ribs, collarbone, vertebrae, pelvis, and a collapsed lung.
