Employee killed when struck by falling utility pole

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 17, 1998, Employee #1, an apprentice lineman, and his foreman were removing an old utility pole. They removed all service lines and the guy from the old pole in preparation for pulling it out. While they were discussing their next procedure, the pole broke off at ground level and fell, striking Employee #1. He was killed.
