Employee dies when struck in head by falling tree

Employee #1, an equipment mechanic, was assisting a tree feller by bringing him a chain saw to replace one that had become caught in a tree trunk snag. When the feller completed the cut with the second saw, the tree fell down the hill dislodging a smaller tree that had been caught in the larger tree's branches. While retreating from the falling larger tree, Employee #1 ran under the path of the falling smaller tree. He was struck on the right side of the forehead and died immediately.
