Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 908665
Event: 07/04/1993
ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE

A power line crew was repairing a jumper on a utility pole. The jumper had failed because of a downed power line at another location. The crew deenergized the overhead power line at a substation, but they did not test it for voltage. One of the power lines, which was fed from a different substation, was still energized. A power line worker on the crew contacted the energized line. He received an electric shock and was badly burned. He was hospitalized for his injuries.
