Employee's ankle fractured in fall from stepladder

Employee #1, of Sierra Pacific Industries, was cleaning up the area under conveyor #334 when he observed a slash board crossed up from the dropout that was plugging up the conveyor. Employee #1 tried unsuccessfully to use an aluminum pole to dislodge the board. He then decided he could reach the board more easily using a stepladder. Employee #1 was climbing the ladder when his right foot slipped off the third rung and he fell 27 to 30 in. onto the concrete floor. He suffered a fractured right ankle and was hospitalized for more than 24 hours.
