Employee injured from 18-foot fall

On January 24, 2003, Employee #1 was attempting to carry a 4.5-foot by 5-foot sheet metal chimney cap in one hand, while coming down a fixed 25-foot scaffold ladder. For some reason, Employee #1 slipped and fell 18 feet to the ground, which was soft and muddy due to recent rain. Despite Employee #1 being able to stand up and walk on his own, he was hospitalized for three days. He was diagnosed with minor back compression fractures at the L1 and L2 joints and a minor contusion to his left wrist.
