Employee amputates finger with circular saw

Employee #1 was cutting a 2 by 4 that was lying on a long table on top of another 2 by 4. He was using a circular saw with the guard down and was holding the 2 by 4 on the table with his left hand. When the board moved, he reached around the saw to hold the other end of the board. He was wearing a pair of cotton glove inserts which were a little big for him. The saw blade caught the small finger of the glove, pulling his finger into the saw and cutting it off at the second knuckle. Employee #1 has used a circular saw for over 10 years and had never reached around the saw before.
