Employee Loses Fingers - Caught Between Chain and Sprocket

Employee #1, a general helper, lost his second and fourth fingers on his right hand when his fingers became caught between a chain and sprocket. He was attempting to adjust one of the heavy chains that lift a container of newly cast metal wheels. The chains were uneven and needed to be of equal length to raise the container. The machine was not operating. He tried to move the chain by hand and his fingers were caught between the chain and the sprocket. He lost his second and fourth fingers of the right hand. Employee #1 went to a local hospital for treatment.
