Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on April 12, 1999, Employee #1 and coworkers were trimming trees in back of a fraternity house in Long Beach, CA. He was standing on the ground when a falling tree limb struck him on the head. Employee #1 suffered a fractured skull and was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center. He was later moved to Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, where he was treated for nine days. The tree limb that fell had not been secured prior to being cut. Employee #1 was part of a tree trimming crew with the Timberland Tree Company.
