Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on February 18,1999, a material handler was loading or unloading dry zircon potassium perchlorate (ZPP) to or from the designated blending department's explosive delivery truck. An explosion occurred and killed the employee. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the explosion, recovered the employee's body, and transported him to the Los Angeles County Corner for an autopsy.
