Employee injured from fall

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on October 4, 2002, Employee #1, a 67-year-old laboratory scientist in a blood bank, was working her shift at a medical center. As she was walking from the emergency room to the laboratory, through a passageway about 92 inches wide, she fell. No one witnessed the accident, but two coworkers provided assistance. Further, there was no sign of a cause for her fall (i.e. slippery floor or something on the sole of her shoe). Employee #1 was hospitalized for five days and was treated for an open fracture on her left femur.
