Employee's finger amputated in packing machine

Employee #1, of Glacier Foods, was adjusting the timing of a packing machine in the plant and had removed the guard from the chain and sprocket. He used regular tools to make the adjustments, not extension tools or other methods to keep his hands away from the chain. He said that he looked away from the machine for a second and his fingers got caught in the chain and sprocket. Employee #1's left thumb and index finger suffered partial amputation.
